Hal Prize Photography Winner Featured at Art League Gallery

Photographer Jim Rossol is the Door County Art League Gallery’s artist of the week for Sept. 19 – 25.

Rossol, of Baileys Harbor, retired early from a successful sales and marketing career and considers himself lucky to be able to pursue his lifelong hobby of photography as a full-time resident of Door County.

Rossol’s photographs depict an interpretation of his visual world and can be either representational or abstract. He intends for his representational work to inspire a new awareness and appreciation of familiar things layered with emotional and textural interpretation. By emphasis on line and shape he offers viewers a new way of seeing familiar objects or settings, or awareness of something they have never seen.

Rossol has received several honors for his photography including third place in photography in the 2015 Peninsula Pulse Hal Prize; second place, judges choice, in the 2010 Around the County photo contest; and photography of note in the 2014 Hal Prize competition. Rossol has frequently been juried into the Guenzel Gallery at The Peninsula School of Art and The Hardy Gallery for public exhibitions.

The Door County Art League Gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm, and Sunday, 11 am to 3 pm. It is located in the courtyard of the Top of the Hill shops in Fish Creek, at the corner of Highway 42 and Spring Road. Click here for more information.
