Write On, Door County is offering two new online workshops.

Hal Prize winner Rebecca Zornow will lead Hobbits, Heroes and Hovercrafts: Building Your Speculative Fiction Novel or Short Story on Feb. 22, 4-5:30 pm, via Zoom, to share with participants how to create engaging fantasy/science fiction. Topics will include worldbuilding, readers’ expectations, and drafting and editing tips specific to the genre.

The session is appropriate for high school students and adults. Tuition is $15 per person, with scholarships available.

Poet Lisa Higgs will offer After Inspiration: Revising and Submitting Poems virtually on Feb. 26, 10-11:30 am. This session is intended for people with some experience writing poetry and taking part in poetry workshops because participants are asked to have poems ready that they would like to revise.

An award-winning poet with numerous publications to her credit, Higgs will close the workshop with a discussion about submitting poems to journals and submitting manuscripts to chapbook and book-length contests.Visit writeondoorcounty.org to get more details about these programs and others.
