Half Marathon Named A “Must-do” Race

Competitor Magazine, one of the most widely read running magazines in the country, named the Door County Half Marathon one of 20 “must-do” races in the Midwest.

“This popular destination race takes full advantage of the natural beauty of Door County, Wis.,” the magazine raved.

The race was listed alongside some of the largest and established races in the country, including the Chicago Marathon and the Shamrock Shuffle.

“It’s great to be recognized with some of the top races in the country,” said course director Myles Dannhausen. “Obviously the scenery of Peninsula State Park has a lot to do with that. But our participants tell us year in and year out that the quality of the volunteers and community support is just as important as the beautiful course.”

The seventh edition of the half marathon takes place May 3, 2014, and is already nearing capacity. The race is now 90 percent full.
