Halloween Celebrations, Film Screenings & More Weekend Plans

The final weekend of October is upon us, and that means one thing:  Halloween is almost here! Join the celebrations in Fish Creek and Sturgeon Bay, or head to the quiet woods of Newport State Park for an equally festive retreat.

Friday, October 27

Hometown Stories: Baileys Harbor Extras

Join the staff of Crossroads at Big Creek for a screening of three Baileys Harbor segments that were not included in Wisconsin Public Television’s Hometown Stories Door County. Haven’t seen it yet? Stick around following these segments to watch the entire episode. 2 pm.

Dark Songs

Musicians have been working hard spinning bottles, collaborating and recording fresh tunes during this annual songwriting spectacle hosted by the Holiday Music Motel. The reward is music to the ears of Third Avenue Playhouse guests, as musicians take the stage Friday and Saturday nights to share their terrific tunes of terror. 7:30 pm.

Jack O’Lantern Days

This family-friendly weekend highlights mask making for kids, pumpkin carving, a haunting Halloween parade (12-12:30pm Saturday), trick-or-treating (1-3pm Saturday), costume parties for both kids and adults and more.

Thrills on Third

Pumpkin painting, slime making and a costume parade are just a few spooktacular events happening during Sturgeon Bay’s annual Halloween celebration!

Witches Caps & Dead Man’s Fingers

Want to get away from the hustle and bustle? Head to the tip of the peninsula for a Halloween nature hike with a Newport State Park naturalist. They’ll guide you through the forest in search of Witches Caps, Dead Man’s Fingers, Earth Tongues and Witches Butter. 1pm.

Halloween Ball

Have a ball, ’50s style, with Door County Fire Company’s celebration Saturday evening benefiting HELP of Door County. There will be food, dancing, music and a costume contest. 7-11pm.

Sunday, October 29

An Edgewood ‘Thank You’

Edgewood Orchard Galleries thanks its artists and patrons for another successful season in fitting fashion:  with a closing celebration. Enjoy refreshments and get an early start on Christmas shopping with their Gifts from the Heart final exhibit. 10am – 5pm.

An Evening with Lil Rev

The Ukulele Society of Door County hosts this Milwaukee musician, who is preparing an evening of vintage music, stories, guitar, ukulele, harmonica, and more. 7pm.

Feature Film Screening

The Door County feature comedy-drama June Falling Down has been sweeping the awards scene since it came out in 2014. Catch a screening and Q&A with its filmmakers in Baileys Harbor. 7pm.
