“Happy Daze” is Here

Laughter and emotion run high in Happy Daze (or the Short Happy Madness of Julian Thaddeus Springer), a two-act comedy by William Gleason. The story centers around J.T. Springer, a troubled young man who uses 1950s television as escapist entertainment – until his escape turns into reality. For Kids By Kids, Third Avenue Playhouse’s resident children’s theater group, will give six performances: Friday and Saturday, July 11 and 12 and July 18 and 19 at 7 pm and Sunday, July 13 and 20 at 2 pm.

This funny yet serious play takes us on a mini-tour through the minefield of adolescence as J.T. fights through his problems and comes back prepared to cope with the real world of today.

Children between the ages of nine and 14 auditioned to participate in the summer production directed by Bill Bauernfeind and Renee Kujawski. As part of TAP’s theater day camp program, the group has been involved in all aspects of production including stage management, lighting and sound, set design and props.
