The Hardy Gallery is pleased to announce the five recipients of the juror awards for the 54th Annual Juried Exhibit. They are: First Place – “Birches” by Jeff Olson; Second Place – “Bonabelle” by Laura Schley; Third Place – “Starfinder Orion Series” by John Whitney; Francis Howe Hardy Honorable Mention Award – “Turtles” by Thomas Jordan; People’s Choice Award – “Milky Way over Moonlight Bay” by Dan Eggert.
Each year The Hardy Gallery sets out to find five practicing, established artists to make up the jury panel and determine the selection for the annual juried exhibit. This year, The Hardy selected five accomplished women who produce work in a range of media and have received notoriety in their profession at the national level.
Out of 148 works of art submitted into the Wall-to-Wall exhibit, 84 pieces were ultimately chosen to represent the 54th Annual Juried Exhibit.
Juror Daina Mattis said, “Although the jury process was difficult, I was humbled by the sheer volume of applicants and by the level of craft exhibited. A majority of the work presents a strong sense of nature and our place within it, a direct observation of our world that is often marginalized.”
The 54th Annual Juried exhibit is now on view until July 17; the gallery closes at 3 pm that day. Admission is free. The Hardy Gallery, located on Anderson Dock in Ephraim, is open 10 am – 5 pm daily, and 12 – 5 pm Sunday. For more information, call 920.854.2210 or visit thehardy.org.
