Hardy Gallery Announces 2019 Exhibits

The Hardy Gallery (thehardy.org) has been a pillar of the Door County art community since the mid-1900s, providing exhibits that surprise visitors each season.

The first exhibit of the Hardy’s 57th season, Wall-to-Wall, May 25 to June 6, is a salon-style show that’s open to both emerging and established artists. The opening reception is May 25, 5:30-7 pm.

The 57th Annual Juried Show – one of the Hardy’s most notable exhibits – will feature a wide variety of media by local and regional artists June 14 to July 14. The opening reception is June 14, 5:30-7 pm.

The Collection Invitational annual fundraising event, July 19 to Aug. 25, will exhibit two works by each invited artist, with one work available in the Collectors’ Choice benefit silent auction. The opening reception is July 19, 5:30-7 pm.

Celebrating its 12th year, the Community Mosaic Project, July 19 to Aug. 25, will invite the public to create individual artworks in any medium on canvas, to be displayed together as a large mosaic. The mosaic’s unveiling will be July 19, 5:30-7 pm.

Artists of every painting medium are invited to create plein air works during the 2019 Dockside Quick Paint on July 27, 9-11 am, in Sister Bay’s Waterfront Park. The first-place-award recipient will be invited to be a featured artist in the 2020 Door County Plein Air Festival.

By Fire: A Contemporary Ceramic Exhibition, Aug. 30 to Oct. 13, will explore the materiality of ceramics by focusing on the nonutilitarian, sculptural work of a diverse set of contemporary artists who push form to the threshold. The opening reception is Aug. 30, 5:30-7 pm.
