Harmonious Wail at Peg Egan PAC

Harmonious Wail, a group that blends jazz, swing, and gypsy music with melodic vocals, will take the stage of Egg Harbor’s Peg Egan Performing Arts Center on Sunday, August 16 at 7 pm.

The Wail has toured throughout the United States and Europe for the past 17 years, gaining an excellent response from audience members and return engagements from venues. Drawing from the rich influence of the European gypsy musicians, most notably Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli (creators of the gypsy swing genre), the Wail bursts through the gypsy swing’s normal boundaries. With intoxicating vocals by Maggie Delaney-Potthoff and a smoldering combination of mandolin, guitar, bass, and snare percussion, the Wail has a sound that’s at once difficult to categorize but hard to forget. The enticing arrangements and sheer joy the Wail brings to every performance is downright addictive.

The Wail have been the winners of multiple MAMA awards including “Best Jazz CD,” “Best Ensemble Vocalists of the Year,” “Favorite Jazz Band,” “Best World Artist,” and “Best World Song.” Of all the venues and stages that these National Public Radio regulars have graced, it is the Peg Egan Center that brings the most enthusiastic audience response!

The Peg Egan PAC is located on Church Street in Egg Harbor. All concerts are free and open to the public. In case of rain, concerts are held at the Orchards Golf Course in Egg Harbor.
