Health Hike at Crossroads at Big Creek

Crossroads at Big Creek will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 22–23, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Crossroads has had a year of celebrating as a participant in the Celebrate Water Door County initiative. Its objective has been to appreciate and to be thankful for healthy water. Crossroads is especially thankful for Big Creek and The Cove, and to the generous donors who make it possible to protect the ground and surface water under their care.

Celebrate the beauty of Door County on Nov. 24, 2 pm, during a screening of the Wisconsin Public Television “Wisconsin Hometown Stories: Door County” program. Several cut vignettes follow the main program. The screening will be held in the lecture hall.

Work off your Thanksgiving meals with Crossroads on Nov. 25, 1 pm, during a Health Hike. Join the naturalist on a gentle, hour-long hike through the Big Creek Preserve. Meet at the Collins Learning Center.

The Door County Beekeepers Club meets on Nov. 27 at 6:30 pm in the lecture hall. Learn how to care for hives, and how to protect them from varroa mites. The meeting is open to the public.

Help the Friends of Crossroads on Nov. 28 before the holiday decorations go up by cleaning the Collins Learning Center; there are tasks for everyone. Volunteers can come and go between 10 am and 2 pm. Take a sack lunch if you plan to help during the lunch hour. Cleaning supplies and drinks will be provided.
