The United States Energy Information Agency is predicting a drop in heating prices this winter throughout the country. Average household expenditures for heating this winter are expected to drop about eight percent from last year. Natural gas and propane prices are projected to drop 12 and 14 percent, respectively, while electricity and heating oil prices will decline about 2 percent.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration projects that average temperatures in the Midwest will be about 4 degrees warmer than last winter.
The decline in prices is a result of warmer anticipated temperatures and decreased demand as consumers conserve more.
