Help Grow a Seed Library

Avid gardeners, seed specialists and anyone interested in the concept of starting a seed library are invited to attend the first planning meeting on Aug. 29, 2 pm at the Sturgeon Bay branch of Door County Library at 107 S. Fourth Ave.

Door County Master Gardener Penne Wilson and Adult Services Librarian Laura Kayacan will lead the discussion about the mission, goals and implementation plans to create and start a seed library in Door County.

Seed programs have been successful in Appleton, Madison, La Crosse, and other libraries across Wisconsin, and the Seed Swap held at the Egg Harbor Library and Kress Pavilion earlier this year showed a growing interest in our community.

“We hope to build on that enthusiasm and are looking for ideas, volunteers and passion,” said Penne. “We love the idea of connecting people to their food and supporting our community, and we’re looking forward to start growing this project from the ground up.”
