Heritage Garden Spotlighted in Yesteryear Program Aug. 24

The Door County Historical Society will host – and Nancy Goldberg will present – its yesteryear program about the Heritage Garden on Aug. 24, 1 pm, in the Vignes School in the Heritage Village at Sturgeon Bay’s Crossroads at Big Creek.

“The Heritage Garden began initially as a joint project of the Sturgeon Bay Garden Club and Door County Master Gardeners,” Goldberg said. “Originally designed as an herb garden, it has evolved into a garden that closely replicates a typical garden from the 1890-1910 era.”

She will discuss the garden’s history and German design and share the stories behind some of this year’s plants. There is no admission charge, but donations are appreciated.

Heritage Village will be open for self-guided tours 10 am – 3 pm. The adult admission fee is $6.50; a donation for youth is welcomed.
