Hey Hey 5k Draws Crowd to Baileys Harbor

The inaugural Hey Hey 5k run drew 160 runners to Baileys Harbor Saturday, Sept. 26, to enjoy a great course, polka, and beer from presenting sponsor Door County Brewing Co.

Race Director Myles Dannhausen Jr. of the Peninsula Pacers was pleased with the turnout.

“For a first-year event taking place in the heart of the fall race season I was really excited by the reaction,” he said. “The Run the Door crew brought a lot of serious runners to the starting line, which is exactly the kind of runner you need to grow an event.”

Brian Carver of Chicago was the overall winner, while his girlfriend, Sarah Miceli, paced the women.

In the masters division (40 and above), Todd Charnetski of Green Bay and Krista Eliot of Baileys Harbor took top honors in the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively.

Winners received t-shirts from Door County Brewing Co., which sponsored music from Polka Man Dale to entertain runners at the start and finish line at the brewery.

All participants received a Hey Hey 5k t-shirt, pint glass, and a free beverage from Door County Brewing Co.
