Hidden Galleries of Ellison Bay

Two “hidden galleries” of northern Door County will open their doors July 26 and 27 from 10 am to 5 pm, awarding visitors with a bouquet of artists in a gallery of gardens.

The RD Bentley Studio/Gallery, located at 1076 N. Elm Road, has a new display, “Faces,” featuring original oils in sporting situations. The “Flights of Fancy” series and local landscapes, offered in Giclee prints and original oils, will also be on display.

Jim Maronek’s Silver Poplar Studios, located at 1519 E. Door Bluff Road, will unveil “The Icon of St. Kreditus.” The unveiling will be held in the barn, Ellison Wonderland, and plein air painters are invited into the Russian estate and gardens during the event. Maronek will offer a free shot of Russian vodka in celebration of the unique icon to anyone over 21, sober upon arrival, and who is descended from the Romanov dynasty and able to prove it.
