High-Efficiency Home Presentation Aug. 2

Certified Passive House Consultant Christi Weber will discuss Passive House design, high-efficiency homes and the role they can play in addressing climate change at the Climate Change Coalition of Door County’s Aug. 2 program, held at 7 pm at the Sevastopol Town Hall. The program is free and open to the public.

The rigorous Passive House standard for energy efficiency is based on design software developed by German engineers and adapted to North American climates. The process enables building designers to model the energy levels of a home during design and make choices regarding levels of insulation and design features. It results in structures that have significantly lower energy requirements for heating or cooling. Although it is mostly applied to new buildings, it can also be applied to remodeling.

Christi Weber has been designing high performance homes, Passive House and net-zero homes for almost 10 years. Trained as an architect, she spent much of the last decade at a sustainable architecture firm in Madison. She is now the newest member of Madison-based TDS Custom Construction, the only construction company in Wisconsin to have a Passive House designer and a Passive House builder under one roof.
