High Roller Art Contest Commences

For a third year, honoring the old-fashioned pie-making tradition, Sweetie Pies announces its “High Roller Art Contest,” in which both professional and amateur artists are challenged with the task of decorating an existing, or creating their own, rolling pin. Deadline for entries is May 2.

“We hope to get a lot of entries this year,” says Sweetie Pies co-owner Renny Lea. “In our first year, there were 11 entries in a variety of media – beadwork, jewelry, paper, metal, objects from nature, as well as in wood.”

Entries will be on display in the Sweetie Pies shop from May into October, where customers vote for their favorite rolling pin. The winners will be announced on Labor Day. Artists may simultaneously offer their works in a silent auction which continues until mid-October.

Entry forms are available at Sweetie Pies and at various artist supply shops and galleries around the county, or check the Sweetie Pies Web site: sweetiepies.us
