High School Golf Wrap-Up

With an individual score of 78 at the Sectional Tournament in Hunter’s Glen in Crivitz on June 1, Sevastopol junior Ben Ehlers, became the sole county golfer to advance to the State Tournament. Ehlers finished third overall individually in a field of 52 golfers competing at the Division 3 level at University Ridge in Madison, June 7 and 8. Ehlers came into the clubhouse with a two-day, 36-hole score of 159 (79, 80).

Ehlers had qualified for the Sectional Tournament as an individual after his team missed the cut in the Regional Tournament at Golden Sands in Bonduel. In the same Regional Tournament, the Gibraltar Vikings advanced to Sectionals as a team after a resounding 18-stroke victory over the 10 competing teams. But the Vikings experienced heartbreak in the Sectionals, falling short of advancing to state by just one stroke.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers shot their season best team score of the year (340) in their Regional Tournament at Royal St. Patrick’s in Wrightstown, but it was not enough to keep their season alive and advance to the Sectional Tournament. Clipper teammates Christian Huehns and Sean Martins found themselves in a playoff against each other for individual qualification for Sectionals. Junior Huehns beat out Martins, but was unable to advance to state after his Sectional Tournament at Crystal Springs in Seymour.
