High School Sports: Saturday Softball Recap

The Southern Door softball team won a pair of games at the Poynette Jamboree Saturday.

The Eagles opened with a 10-1 win over Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau and stopped Northwestern 4-2 in the second game.

The Eagles collected 16 hits in the opener. Kylie Neinas had three hits and Grace LeGrave, Jackie Atkins, Lexi Wery, Tehya Bertrand and Jessica Jacobson each had two hits. LeGrave had three RBIs and Wery had a 3-run home run.

Wery struck out six batters in four innings.

Kendra Dantoin had two hits and two RBIs in the second game. Atkins added two hits and an RBI. LeGrave and Wery threw a combined 4-hitter.

In other local softball action, Algoma stopped Sturgeon Bay 16-4 in a five-inning Packerland Conference game.

Katie Frank hit a grand slam in the Clippers’ four-run fourth inning. Melissa Moxon, Alexis McCarthy and Autumn Hacht each had a hit.
