High Tunnels Workshop

Peninsular Agricultural Research Station and Door County UW-Extension will offer a workshop on growing systems under high tunnels. The workshop will take place at the Peninsular Agricultural Research Station, 4312 Hwy 42, Sturgeon Bay on June 15 from 9:30 am – 4 pm.

High tunnels are greenhouse-like structures that extend the growing season by protecting plants from frosts in the spring and fall. One of the difficulties of high tunnels is the construction of the structure.

This one-day workshop will provide attendees the opportunity to observe the construction of a high tunnel and learn from construction experts. In addition, UW-Madison Fruit Specialist Rebecca Harbut will provide information on growing crops in high tunnels. There is no fee. Register by calling 920.743.5406.

This educational effort is sponsored by UW-Extension, UW Peninsular Agricultural Research Station-College of Agriculture and Life Sciences with support provided by Carlin Horticulture Supplies – Dan Groh and Ann Maletzke. For more information call Dean Volenberg, Door County Agriculture Agent at 920.746.2263 or Richard Weidman, Superintendent Peninsular Agricultural Research Station at 920.743.5406.
