High Winds Cause Power Outage

High winds Saturday morning knocked a tree limb onto the power lines on Hoganson Lane in Ephraim. The limb caught fire, then burned through the lines and knocked it to the ground, causing a Sunday morning power failure in the area. The Ephraim Fire Department was on the scene until a Wisconsin Public Service crew arrived.

Matt Cullen, WPS senior communications specialist, said the strong storms that moved through the region Saturday required the utility’s crews to restore service to more than 18,000 customers across the region. He said that number included the outages in Door County, where about 37 customers were without power until approximately 2:30 pm.
