Highway Construction Will Begin April 19

Door County – It’s that time of year when county and state road work begins. Thad Ash, Door County highway commissioner, listed the projects that will be undertaken beginning April 19: 

• County A from County V to County E: Starting April 19, existing asphalt will be removed, and the road will be regraded and repaved. The expected completion date is June 10.

• Highway 42, from Sister Bay to Gills Rock: Starting April 26, the highway and shoulder will be repaved and remarked. The expected completion date is June 2.

• Highway 57, from the Highway 42/57 split north of Sturgeon Bay to Summit Road in Baileys Harbor: A project with a planned start date of May 4 will repave and remark the highway and shoulder and include some guardrail work. The expected completion date is Sept. 30. The Jacksonport area will be completed by May 28.

All areas will have construction equipment present from approximately 6:30 am until 6:30 pm daily, Monday – Saturday. All sites will also have a flagging operation in place. 

Ash said no work would be done during the season’s major holiday periods, starting at 12 pm on Fridays and ending at 12 pm on Tuesdays, on these long weekends: May 28 – June 1 (Memorial Day), July 2-6 (Independence Day) and Sept. 3-7 (Labor Day).
