Hike the Winter Challenge

Looking for a reason to get out and be active? Join Bay Shore Outfitters as it hosts seven free group hikes/snowshoes of all the trails in Newport State Park with a member of the Newport Wilderness Society beginning this month and running thorugh March.

The hiking schedule is as follows:

• Hike 1 – Sugarbush Trail, Jan. 11 at 10 am, meet at Lot 4
• Hike 2 – Sand Cove/Duck Bay Trail, Jan. 16 at 1:30 pm, meet at Lot 3
• Hike 3 – Upland/Monarch Trail, Feb. 8 at 10 am, meet at Lot 1
• Hike 4 – Northern Europe Bay Trail, Feb. 13 at 1:30 pm, meet at Europe Bay Road
• Hike 5 – Rowleys Bay Trail, March 1 at 10 am , meet at Lot 1
• Hike 6 – Lynd Point/Fern & South Europe Bay Trail, March 6 at 1:30 pm, meet at Lot 3
• Hike 7 – Newport Trail, March 22 at 10 am, meet at Lot 2.

The guided hikes will be three to four miles in length and expect to take about two hours.

Trail/record books are available at Bay Shore Outfitters in Sister Bay. The challenge is to record your mileage and the trail you were on. When you have hiked or snowshoed all of the trails at Newport you will receive a coupon for 15 percent off all Bay Shore products and a surprise gift from the Newport Wilderness Society.
