Hike This: Write On, Door County Nature Path

When Write On, Door County began planning for its writing center on Juddville Road, its leaders envisioned something more than a building. They aimed to create a sense of place in an environment where the mind could recede into the core of Door County. That includes more than 39 acres of woods that surround the center, encircled by a half-mile walking path with places to sit, reflect and write.

February’s theme is Find the Benches, Find the Beauty: a guided hike to search for beautiful cedar donor benches carved by Norm Wiedemeier. Each bench features an etched brass nature plaque by Mary Ellen Sisulak and hides a special word, chosen by the donor of the bench. The writing activities invite visitors to explore nature and pause at the benches for creative writing and drawing.
