Hike to the Evergreen Forest at Crossroads

During December, Crossroads at Big Creek is offering a number of family programs with holiday themes.

On Dec. 7 at 1 pm, the “Hike to the Evergreen Forest” will follow the new footpath, created by Eagle Scout Troop 1140, and focus on the natural history of evergreen trees. The naturalist will share adaptations that help trees survive winter. This hike is free and open to the public. Hikers should meet at the Collins Learning Center.

On Dec. 9 at 3:30 pm, “The History of Christmas Trees” lecture will explore holiday traditions, and compare tree species that are commonly used as holiday trees. The lecture will be held in the lecture hall of the Collins Learning Center.

The Collins Learning Center, located at 2041 Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay, is open daily 2 – 4:30 pm and during scheduled activities. Until snow is deep enough for grooming, all trails are open. Once trails are groomed, hikers are asked to stay off the designated ski trails. For more information visit crossroadsatbigcreek.com.
