Hiking Opportunities, Friends Meeting at Crossroads at Big Creek

A variety of spring ephemerals are in bloom at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay, and there are a couple of upcoming hiking opportunities to see them for yourself.

On June 9 at 1 pm, go on a gentle ramble along Big Creek to find June flowers that flourish on the banks of the creek. Meet at the Astronomy Campus (turn into the driveway at the intersection of Cove Road and Utah Street).

On June 10 at 10 am, hike the north end of the Ida Bay Preserve. The pace will be gentle and the hike will last a little more than an hour. Meet at the parking lot at the intersection of Canal Road and Buffalo Ridge Trail.

Visitors (especially those who would like to volunteer at Crossroads) are invited to the meeting of the Friends of Crossroads on June 12 at 6:30 pm. Meet in the Lower Level of the Collins Learning Center; the meeting is to prepare for the Crossroads Trail Run and other summer activities.

Both hikes and the Friends meeting are free and open to the public. The Collins Learning Center, located at 2041 Michigan (east of the Highway 42/57 roundabout) in Sturgeon Bay, is open 2-4 pm daily and during scheduled activities.
