Historical Society Names New Executive Director

The Door County Historical Society has a new executive director. Bailey Koepsel will take the reins from retiring director Trudy Herbst.

In a press release the society said that its board believes now is the time to hire a full-time executive director “so the organization may continue to flourish and continue preserving Door County’s rich history for many years to come.”

Koepsel has deep local ties and an extensive nonprofit background. Koepsel graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with a B.S. in Public Administration and was recently employed for three years as the Assistant Director at Lawrence University’s Björklunden and managed their summer seminar series.

“We are pleased to bring Bailey Koepsel on board as the full-time executive director for the Door County Historical Society,” said Jay Zahn, board president. “Bailey’s local connections allow her to join our organization with familiarity, while her educational and work background provide great support to carry Door County Historical Society into the future. Bailey will be working with Trudy Herbst for the next few weeks to ensure a smooth transition. We look forward to working with Bailey to continue to enhance our role in the community and expand upon the great work Trudy did over the last three years.”

Koepsel said she was thrilled to take the new role.

“My passion for history and artifact restoration started at a young age and I am eager to continue that work with such a great and established organization,” she said.
