History and Family Programming at Crossroads

Family programs at Crossroads at Big Creek and history programs at Heritage Village at Big Creek are ongoing throughout the summer.

The following are family programs at Crossroads: Aug. 3 – Amazing Great Lakes Fish: learn about fish habitats from the Great Lakes exhibit; Aug. 4 – Mammals Like Us: select a Door County animal from the wildlife exhibit, and go on a nature hike to search for the animal’s habitat; Aug. 5 – Leave No Stone Unturned: look for fossils of sea creatures from when Wisconsin was covered with warm saltwater. Family programs at Crossroads are held at 10 am in the Collins Learning Center. Programs are free and open to all ages.

The following are history programs at Heritage Village, both held at 1:30 pm: Aug. 4 – Life on The Warren Farm and Schopf Log House: experience farm life with Grandma Warren and explore the house where a family of eight played danced and sang; and Aug. 5 – Green General Store, the Fish House and the Heritage Garden: meet the storekeeper, Mrs. Greene, and learn about shopping in 1890.

George Evenson will share his childhood memories of cherries during a Door County Historical Society presentation on Aug. 2 at 2 pm at Heritage Village at Big Creek.

Crossroads at Big Creek is located at 2041 Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay. The Collins Learning Center is open 1:30 – 3:30 pm daily and during scheduled events.
