History Book Benefits Historical Society

The Sister Bay Historical Society has recently released Kathy Springer’s Just a Farmer’s Daughter: a collection of almost 70 short stories that tap memories of growing up on the last operational family farm in the Village of Sister Bay.

The book – available to purchase soon – covers 80-plus years of history, beginning with Melvin Kramer purchasing the farm property in 1930, through the farewell party when the real estate was listed for sale.

Springer’s earliest ancestors arrived in Door County in the 1870s and 1880s, and they farmed and fished to provide for their families. Her great-great-grandparents owned the harbor site that is now the Sister Bay Marina.

All proceeds from the sale of this book will go to the Sister Bay Historical Society.
