University of Wisconsin – Green Bay Professor Emeritus John Harris will examine the events and personalities that emerged in the summer of 1927 in a discussion of One Summer: America, 1927 by Bill Bryson. That was the summer of Charles Lindberg, Babe Ruth, flagpole sitting, disastrous flooding in the South, Black Hills monuments, Al Capone, the first “talking picture,” and a decision that led to the future crash of the stock market and The Great Depression.
