History Comes Alive in Sturgeon Bay

American history “comes alive” with special discussion leader John Harris at 2 pm on May 22 at the Sturgeon Bay Library. University of Wisconsin – Green Bay Professor Emeritus John Harris will examine the events and personalities that emerged in the summer of 1927 in a discussion of One Summer: America, 1927 by Bill Bryson. That was the summer of Charles Lindberg, Babe Ruth, flagpole sitting, disastrous flooding in the South, Black Hills monuments, Al Capone, the first “talking picture,” and a decision that led to the future crash of the stock market and The Great Depression.

Books (audio, regular and large-print versions) are available via the library online catalog at infosoup.org. The discussion will be held at the Door County Library in Sturgeon Bay, 107 S. 4th Avenue. For more information, contact Laura at 920.746.7121.
