History of Soda Bottlers in Door County

The Door County Historical Society (DCHS) will host – and Stephen Pleck Johnson will present – the yesteryear program “History of Soda Bottlers in Door County” on Sept. 21, 1 pm, in the Vignes School at the Heritage Village at Sturgeon Bay’s Big Creek.

Johnson will share the history and memorabilia of soda bottlers in Door County – especially prior to 1920 – with a focus on the involvement of his grandfather, Frank Pleck, in the industry. This program will be informal, so participants may share their knowledge as well.

Johnson is an attorney in Sturgeon Bay and a DCHS life member. His father was also a lawyer and gave many DCHS presentations. The program is free, but donations are appreciated. The Heritage Village, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay, will be open for self-guided tours, 10 am – 3 pm. The adult admission fee is $6.50; a donation for youth admission is appreciated. To learn more, contact the DCHS at 920.421.2332 or [email protected].
