“History Speaks” in Ephraim

The Ephraim Historical Foundation’s “History Speaks” lectures will take place Tuesdays, July 6 – July 27 at 7:30 pm at Ephraim Village Hall.

On July 6 John Fraser Hart, author, University of Minnesota scholar, and summer Door County resident, will explore the geography and cultural history of Door County in conjunction with the release of his latest book, My Kind of County, Door County.

On July 13 the Door County Maritime Museum, along with private collector Jim Baye, will present “The Goodrich Passenger Line & Steam Ships.” The lecture will focus on the crew of the Goodrich passenger steamers who overcame many obstacles during the ever-changing political and economic environments of the 19th century.

On July 20 guest panelists will share stories and personal reminiscences of life in Ephraim before electronics in “What Did Ephraim Do for Fun Before the Age of Electronics?” The program will feature Bob Davis, Anne Hobler, Joyce Gerdman, and Addie Crum.

On July 27 representatives of the Door County Land Trust will present “Door County Land Trust: Three Springs Nature Reserve.” The presenters will explain how the Erickson, Wilson, and Reynold families have cared for this Sister Bay reserve since 1876.
