Hlinak Named Volunteer Fire Chief of 2016

At its recent 88th annual conference in Green Bay, the Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs Association named Greg Hlinak of the Kewaunee Fire Department the volunteer fire chief of 2016. A selection committee comprised of career, volunteer and retired fire chiefs evaluated applications and scores were given in the areas of leadership, innovation, professional development, integrity, service to the public and contributions to the fire service as a whole. Hlinak was nominated for the award by Kewaunee Assistant Fire Chief Paul Nimmer, who said of him, “In so many ways, Greg has proven himself a worthy contender by earning trust amongst the people and firefighters of the community. I have yet to meet someone as selfless and hardworking as Greg and I know this his dedication to the fire service is absolute and unceasing.”
