Holicek Honored for Peninsula State Park Advocacy

The Friends of Wisconsin State Parks has recognized Chris Holicek, president of the Friends of Peninsula State Park (FPSP), with an Individual Member HERO award. The awards honor Friends groups and individuals who have contributed substantial time and energy to a state park, forest or trail. Holicek is one of two 2021 individual award winners.

As FPSP board president since 2009, she has spearheaded several significant park-improvement projects, including the rebuilt Eagle Tower and Nature Center addition, both completed in 2021.

“Chris’s vision and love for Peninsula Park has led the Friends from the beginning,” said Michelle Kemp, FPSP vice president. “She sees obstacles as challenges to overcome, and her ability to compromise has influenced the completion of Eagle Tower and the Nature Center remodel, as well as numerous other projects.”

Friends of Peninsula State Park is dedicated to the goals and preservation of a park that contains spectacular wilderness and shoreline.
