Holiday Fun at Crossroads

The Collins Learning Center at Crossroads at Big Creek will be closed Nov. 24 for the Thanksgiving holiday, but the trails will remain open.

Looking for something to do after Thanksgiving? Take a half-mile walk in the enchanting glow of luminaries Nov. 25, 4:30-6 pm. Start in the parking lot, and follow the Meadow Loop Trail.

The Discovery Outdoors Club – a program for students of elementary-school age that teaches them about ecosystems through outdoor discovery – will meet next on Nov. 26, 10 am. Dress for outdoor activities, and meet at the Collins Learning Center.

Crossroads will screen a series of films in the Collins Learning Center the afternoon of Nov. 26. Starting off at 1 pm will be the Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) program Emma Toft: One with Nature. At 2 pm, it will be the WPT special Wisconsin Water from the Air, and at 3 pm, watch Wisconsin Hometown Stories: Door County. The final screening will be Hometown Stories: Baileys Harbor Extra at 4 pm.

Then break out the wreaths, ribbons and holiday cheer for the Deck the Halls holiday decorating and potluck Nov. 28, 4 pm. All are welcome to help hang lights and welcome the holiday season with a potluck feast. Take a dish to share if you’d like.

The Crossroads Book Club will discuss Braiding Sweetgrass on Nov. 30, 10 am – a chance to explore scientific understanding through the beautiful stories and indigenous wisdom that author Robin Wall Kimmerer shares in her book.

Find details about these programs and others taking place at Crossroads at Big Creek, 2014 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay, at crossroadsatbigcreek.org.
