Renowned Chicago playwrights Jenny Magnus and Beau O’Reilly are the featured readers at a holiday storytelling event presented by The Lightbox and Write On, Door County. The free community event takes place Dec. 18, 5 pm, at The Lightbox, 9922 Water Street, Ephraim. Local storytellers will also join the pair to share tales of the holidays, and audience members are invited to share their own stories. Light refreshments will be provided.
Magnus is a writer, performer, composer, musician, director and teacher who is a founding co-artistic director of the Curious Theater Branch, an all-original theater company. She is the author/creator of plays that have been produced at Steppenwolf Theater, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Aetheneum Theater, Prop Thtr and on tour throughout America and Europe.
O’Reilly is co-curator of the Rhinoceros Theater Festival, a frequent contributor to This American Life and a professor of playwriting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He is a founding member of the Curious Theater Branch, the Crooked Mouth band and the humbly legendary Maestro Subgum & the Whole. The author of more than 90 original plays, O’Reilly is also a working actor.
