This weekend is the official start to the Christmas season in Door County, with Sister Bay and Egg Harbor hosting their hometown holiday festivities and area businesses taking part in Small Business Saturday. Check out our top picks for the festive weekend ahead!

Friday, November 27

Capture the Spirit of the Holidays

Sister Bay will play host to its annual Capture the Spirit holiday event Friday and Saturday while Egg Harbor holds its Holly Days winter weekend. Enjoy old-fashioned family fun with cookie decorating, caroling, tree lighting, an art fair, horse-drawn wagon rides, and breakfast with Santa.

If Trees Could Talk

Take a stroll through history with a Peninsula State Park naturalist, who will share information on tree identification and the stories of people who lived near the park’s entrance. In the afternoon, drop by to create natural art during the park’s Leafy Art event. 10 am.

‘Tis the Season for Open Houses

Check out the Peninsula Pulse’s event calendar for special open houses at area wineries and galleries, along with the Northern Door Children’s Center’s annual Holiday Home Tour, stopping at five distinct Northern Door homes beautifully decorated for the season.

Hip-Hop at Brick Lot

Milwaukee-based hip-hop and rap group Rusty P’s has been sharing its talents in Wisconsin for the past two decades and on Friday night, will bring their special brand of hip-hop to the Brick Lot Pub. 9 pm.

Show your support for the peninsula’s wonderful businesses, and the people who own them, by participating in Small Business Saturday.

Family WaterFest at Crossroads

Try your hand at a number of investigations and demonstrations relating to water during Crossroads at Big Creek’s Family WaterFest, which also includes videos on Professor Bassam Shakashiri’s 2007 presentation on water and another on the making of the Great Lakes exhibit. 1 pm.

Voices of Christmas

Take in the beautiful voices of Christmas from Cantus, a nine-member male vocal ensemble that will present an evening of a cappella holiday cheer at the Door Community Auditorium. 7 pm.

Sunday, November 29

Parks, Phillips and Co.

Welcome the Advent season with traditional hymns, contemporary favorites and songs that will prepare your heart for Christmas with a performance by Parks, Phillips and Co. at Prince of Peace Church.

Holiday Art Fair

Shop local while supporting programs at Gibraltar School during the annual Friends of Gibraltar Holiday Art Fair at Sister Bay Village Hall on Sunday. Lunch will be served and a variety of great gifts will be available for purchase. 10 am.
