Home on the Move

This house, circa 1898, and its two-car garage were lifted and trucked from the middle of the Village of Egg Harbor next door to Shipwrecked, to the south end of Egg Harbor near the Patricia Shoppe. That store’s owner, Erin Anschutz, purchased the house from the Shipwrecked owners with the stipulation that she move it by March 15.

The home has long served as a business, most recently Be Beauty and before that, Christine’s Casuals. Anschutz now intends to make the house her home. In addition to buying the structure and paying the moving costs, Anschutz also paid utility companies to raise or lower the lines as needed.

On Wednesday morning, traffic was detoured around the village while those lines were restored.
