Homebrewers Wanted for Door County Beer Festival

The Door County Beer Festival is seeking contestants for the first Door County Homebrewing Championships on June 16 at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall.

The championships will be judged according to Beer Judge Certification Program style guidelines in 11 categories and will be sanctioned by the American Homebrewers Association. Eight judges will sample beers over two days to determine the best of the best.

The entry fee is $7 for one category and $6 for each additional entry, with a limit of two entries per category.

The Dr. Robert Wahl Award will be given to the best of show and the Peninsula Cup will be awarded to the best club. Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in all 11 categories.

The festival will feature more than 120 craft beers, seminars from brewmasters, beer experts, a presentation from Wisconsin Foodie host Kyle Cherek, and a celebration of locally sourced food and Wisconsin artisan cheeses on the shores of Lake Michigan.
