Northeast Wisconsin – Veterans from northeast Wisconsin are once again traveling on all-expenses-paid trips to Washington, D.C., to see the memorials built in their honor.
Old Glory Honor Flights took an 18-month hiatus during COVID-19, but they resumed Aug. 31 with Honor Flight Mission 54, flying 99 veterans from the Korean and Vietnam wars from Appleton International Airport to Washington, D.C.
Old Glory Honor Flight Mission 55 will fly Wednesday, Sept. 15. Parking is free, as is the Welcome Home Parade within the airport. Members of the public are encouraged to begin arriving around 7 pm, with the veterans’ anticipated arrival at 8:30 pm from Washington, D.C.A group of volunteers founded Old Glory Honor Flights in 2009 to fly local World War II veterans to Washington, D.C.
