The Clearing rug hooking group presented Michael Schneider, executive director of The Clearing, with one of their collaborative creations on Oct. 1. The rug was group designed, hand-hooked and finished by Pamela Hicks, Cathie Ericson, Donna Johnson, Leslie Prange, Ashley Prange, Deb Turman and instructor Patsy Weich. Each contributing hooking artist completed two blocks, while Johnson, Prange and Weich completed some additional finishing work.

The center of the rug is the Hawthorne tree that is part of The Clearing’s logo and the surrounding blocks depict many items seen at The Clearing. A label affixed to the back of the rug reads: “This primitive wool hooked rug is lovingly presented to The Clearing in appreciation of the many hours of pure joy we have experienced within this wonderful haven.”
