Hope Church Gallery Displays Quilts

Quilt by Carola Minar McMullen.

Carola Minar McMullen has sewn since early childhood and has slept under quilts made by her grandmothers all her life. Thus, quilting was a “natural” choice for her when she was searching to find an art that would work for her.

In 1992 she moved to Door County full-time and soon was asked to teach at The Clearing, first in the winter and then in 1995 for the summer residential classes. This went on for almost twenty years during which she also taught in her studio at home and at the John C. Campbell Folk School in North Carolina.

Her quilts, both handmade and machine-made, are on display at the Hope Church Gallery through the end of January. Hope Church is located at 141 South 12th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay.
