Hope United Welcomes Scholar-in-Residence, David Gottlieb

On May 1, Hope United Church of Christ in Sturgeon Bay will welcome David Gottlieb as its second Scholar-in-Residence. Gottlieb is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Chicago Divinity School. In addition to his doctoral studies, he is the co-founder and executive director of Full Circle Communities, Inc., a not-for-profit developer of affordable housing and provider of supportive services in Illinois, Iowa and Florida.

Gottlieb will present Sunday programs during May from 9 to 10:15 am at Hope United Church, 141 South 12th Ave., Sturgeon Bay. The public is welcome to attend these free programs. His topics will include: May 7 – “Do Cultures Remember? An Introduction to the Concept of Cultural Memory”; May 14 – “How Crisis and Covenant Shaped Jewish Cultural Memory” and May 21 – “The Binding of Isaac.” On May 28 at 10:30 am, he will present the sermon during the worship service.
