On May 31, from 9 am to 3 pm, a Horse Health and Wellness Clinic will be presented at Tipping Bucket Farm on Washington Island. “The Clinic will assist 4-H members, Island visitors and residents to provide better care for their animals,” said 4-H leader/mentor Joe Elmore.

Presenters include: Liv Sandberg, UW–Extension State Equine Specialist; and Sarah Mills-Lloyd, DVM, UW-Extension Oconto County Agriculture Agent. Presentations are: “Understanding the ‘Inner Buggers’ – Managing Internal Parasites,” “Hit Me with Your Best Shot – Vaccination and Disease Review,” “Body Condition Scoring,” and “Horse Health Evaluation.”

“Washington Island has about 60 horses,” said Brenda Russell, 4H leader/mentor. “I’m thankful these people are willing to come to our island and thrilled that this clinic is open to the community.”

The Washington Island 4-H Club, Washington Island Horse & Pony Club, and University of Wisconsin Extension of Kewaunee and Door Counties sponsor this free clinic. Donations are accepted for the Washington Island Horse & Pony Club. Bring a dish to pass for the noon potluck.

Tipping Bucket Farm, located at 987 Townline Road, has plenty of indoor barn space in the event of rain. For more information, call Brenda Russell at 920.535.0122.
