Hudson Road Trading Company Unveils New Outdoor Artwork

To celebrate their recent move, the Hudson Road Trading Company asked Robert Bentley to paint an outdoor mural.

“We really felt we needed something distinctive on our outside wall,” said co-owner Margie Needelman. “The exterior of the building cried for something beautiful.”

Installed earlier this fall, Bentley’s painting is a reflection of the artist’s creative imagination. “The idea for a large, outdoor subject was intriguing and I felt that a whimsical approach would do the job,” explained Bentley. “Ultimately, it turned out to be an interesting exercise, because I had to create something larger than my usual paintings, and work with the fairly unfamiliar medium of acrylic to protect against the weather.”

Co-founded with Elizabeth Hudson in 2005, Hudson Road Trading Company was initially an e-commerce website venture that grew into a destination business within three years. Featuring an exclusive selection of artisan jewelry, gems, crystals, minerals, and fossils, Hudson Road Trading Company also hosts a variety of jewelry vendors, pet specialties, and designer items including event purses.

Hudson Road Trading Company, open daily from 10 am – 5 pm, is located at 10647 N. Bay Shore Road in Sister Bay. (New hours will begin October 18: 10 am – 4 pm, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday; 10 am – 5 pm, Friday and Saturday.)
