Humane Society Saving Pets Challenge Ends Soon

The Door County Humane Society (DCHS) has only a few days left to compete in the national Saving Pets Challenge. Since May 2, DCHS has been battling it out with hundreds of other animal welfare organizations all competing to see who can raise the most money online for their cause in a single month.

Currently, DCHS is in second place nationally and has raised more than $57,000. DCHS will continue to compete from now until June 1 at 1 pm. The organization’s goal is to raise $100,000 and place in the top five at the end of the competition.

“On Thursday, June 1, when everything is said and done, the top five organizations will receive bonus cash prizes. First place receives $50,000, second place $30,000, third places $20,000, fourth place $10,000 and fifth place $5,000. Last year we placed fourth nationally and this year we would love to end the competition in third or higher,” explained April Delfosse, DCHS communications and development coordinator.

An anonymous donor is adding an extra incentive to the Challenge. This individual has pledged to donate $5,000 once DCHS has raised $65,000.

To donate simply go to doorcountyhumanesoceity.org and click the red square button that says “Donate,” found on the right-hand side of the screen. All donations must be given online to count. To follow the organization’s progress go to crowdrise.com/savingpetschallenge.
