Hymn Sing to Benefit HELP of Door County

After two years without its popular events, Zion United Methodist Church, 8781 Cty F in Fish Creek, is again inviting the entire community to a hymn sing Sunday, July 10, 5 pm. This tradition began in 1993 at the little country church that’s now 147 years old.

This event will feature old-time hymns chosen by the audience, and the Rev. Don Heeringa, a former Zion pastor, will serve as song leader, accompanied by Joan Vahey. Past hymn sings have attracted people from 13 different religious denominations.

A free-will offering will benefit HELP of Door County, which has worked to eliminate domestic abuse through prevention, intervention services and social change for more than 40 years. All of the money collected stays in Door County. Since 2002, Zion’s hymn sings have raised about $38,500 for agencies that benefit Door County residents. Refreshments will be served. The next hymn sing is scheduled for Sept. 3.
