Ice Rink Kickoff Bonfire Nov. 16

It’s time to think winter sports in Northern Door. Kick off the season at Sister Bay’s Teresa K. Hilander Community Ice Rink on Nov. 16, 4-8 pm, with a bonfire, games, food and live music.

The ice rink committee is busy organizing the Northern Door Broomball League, readying the warming house and rink, and planning other family and community activities. If the weather cooperates, the rink will be open for Christmas.

“We’re committed to making this rink the best we can, and that starts with getting people’s ideas and input,” said committee member Myles Dannhausen Jr. “Rather than send out a survey, we figured we’d throw a party and invite everyone down for food and games as they share their ideas.”

The evening will feature live music, a big bonfire in the fire pit and food, beer and hot chocolate for purchase. Broomball and hockey shooting contests will be open for kids and adults to win great prizes, and broomball organizers will be on hand to sign up teams and demonstrate gear. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and chances to win broomball equipment. Live music starts at 5 pm.
