Idlewild Senior Men’s League Begins ‘After’ Season

The Idlewild Senior Men’s Thursday 8:30 am Golf League ended its regular season with an Aug. 29 tournament, but it will continue as long as eight golfers attend. It will end when fewer than eight attend for two consecutive weeks.

Any man age 50 or older should check in at the clubhouse a little after 8 am for a tee-off beginning at 8:15 am. This is a casual, nine-hole league: Simply show up; put a buck in the box for that day’s event prizes; group with others; and turn in your card at the end. Some players stay to complete 18 holes.

The 2019 tournament winner was Jim Budny, who took home the coveted traveling “SBOT 1st” mug (Sturgeon Bay Old Timers) for his 34 net (40 gross). Second place was a 35-net tie, so the winner was determined by the ranked handicap 1 for hole #5. Mike Eliason was second, with a par 4 (gross 47); and CPA Steve Asher achieved third with a double bogey 6 (gross 43).

The league thanks the community supporters who donated tournament prizes: Peninsula Title Company, Jim Strutz of Edward Jones Investments, Randy Rubens of  RBC Wealth Management, Billie Kletzien of Baird Private Wealth Management, Nicolet National Bank, Associated Bank, Bank of Luxemburg, Stoneman Schopf Insurance and Idlewild Golf Course.

During the regular season, 34 players participated in the league, and 16 of them played for four weeks or more. The league seeks a few good men to add to the notification list for the 2020 league. Contact Mark Jinkins at 920.493.8000 or [email protected] to be added.
