Impressionistic Paintings at Fish Creek YMCA

A new exhibit of colorful impressionistic paintings opens May 1 at the YMCA in Fish Creek. More than 20 original plein air and studio landscapes of familiar Door County scenes will be on display for the entirety of May. The paintings were produced by Jim Leatham in his studio this past winter with additional plein air works from last summer and fall.

Included in the exhibit of boats, fishing docks, harbors, and the iconic bluffs of Eagle Harbor are images of towns, parades and the colors of Autumn found throughout the many farms and fields of Door County.

Leatham’s award-winning oil landscapes have been featured annually at both the Hardy and Miller Art Museum galleries. He started coming to the peninsula regularly during the summer seasons beginning in the 1960s, establishing full-time residency in 2000 with his Door Images studio/gallery at 2366 Log Cabin Lane, Sister Bay. The gallery is open year round by appointment. For more information call 920.854.4008.
