Impressive Pins Lead to Title

Congratulations to the Southern Door High School wrestling team for capturing their first Packerland Conference Championship title at home on Jan. 23, 2014.

A number of their wrestlers are already having successful individual seasons, and are ranked for Division 2 wrestling in Wisconsin. Tory Jandrin is a freshman with a record of 28-10, who lost 3-2, on Jan. 23 to Sturgeon Bay’s Lucas Stephenson (currently ranked first in his weight class in Division 2). Hunter Pawelski is a junior with a record of 33-5 who is currently ranked eighth. Jacob Englebert, a senior with a record of 36-1, is close to breaking the all-time career wins record at Southern Door. He is currently ranked second. Senior Nolan Wagner has a record of 33-5 and is currently ranked sixth in the state.

To see all Door County high school wrestlers in action, plan on going to the Door County Classic at Sturgeon Bay High School on Feb. 1 beginning at 8 am.
